Chanchal Chowdhury, known for his acting skills, has also made a name for himself as a singer. His melodic voice is often requested at various events, where he covers popular songs by different artists.
In a new milestone, Chanchal Chowdhury has lent his voice to a Kolkata film titled “Shekor” directed by Bratya Basu. This marks his debut as a playback singer in the movie industry.
Recording two songs for the film, Chanchal’s musical talent was highlighted by the production house Friends Communication in a recent social media post. The post included photos of Chanchal rehearsing with music director Prabuddha Banerjee and described “Shekor” as an eternal love story with Chanchal making his debut as a playback singer in Tollywood.
Chanchal shared with Ajker Patrika that he re-recorded two popular Baul songs for the film “Shekor.” The songs, “Ei Prithibi Jemon Ache Temni Thik Robe” by Bijoy Sarkar and “O Jibon Re Chhariya Na Jao More” by Gostho Gopal Das, were his suggestions for the film’s soundtrack. The actor expressed that the songs complement the storyline and enhance the emotional impact of the scenes.
Based on Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s short stories “Drabomoyir Kashibas and Dadu,” “Shekor” features Chanchal Chowdhury in a pivotal role as Indra, a factory worker dealing with his father’s memory loss, a theme close to the actor’s heart due to his personal experience with a similar situation.
Working under the direction of Bratya Basu for the first time, Chanchal Chowdhury completed filming for “Shekor” in October last year. The movie also stars Loknath Dey, Seema Biswas, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Riddhi Sen, Angana Roy, and Anasuya Majumdar. Scheduled for release this year, “Shekor” promises to be a captivating cinematic experience for audiences.
