BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy expressed concerns that potential protests by the party over disputes related to the July National Charter and its implementation recommendations could jeopardize the survival of the interim government. He emphasized the party’s desire for a transparent election process and highlighted the importance of maintaining stability to ensure the election’s legitimacy.
Gayeshwar shared these views during a conversation with reporters after paying respects at the grave of the party’s founder, Ziaur Rahman, in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. He criticized the government for its silence on unresolved issues connected to the charter and urged the chief adviser to address these disputes before the upcoming polls.
Despite the discrepancies in the final version of the charter compared to the original agreement, Gayeshwar emphasized the need for a fair and credible election. He assured that the party would exercise restraint and strive to uphold peace in the country, despite potential challenges.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir raised concerns about attempts to incite chaos in the nation. He announced a 10-day program to commemorate National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7, starting from November 5 and concluding on November 13.
As part of the observance, BNP plans to hoist the party flag at all offices nationwide on November 7, with senior leaders paying respects at Ziaur Rahman’s grave and holding a rally in Dhaka. District and upazila units will also organize rallies on the same day.
Additionally, various events such as discussions, cultural activities, photo exhibitions, and educational initiatives for orphans will be conducted by BNP’s associate bodies and local units. Documentaries will be shared through different media channels, including social platforms like Facebook and YouTube, culminating in a discussion at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on November 12.
