Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) and Moringa Bangladesh Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 18th of January. Under this MoU, these two organizations will work together to increase the use of moringa (drumstick tree).
Dr. Talukder Nurun Nahar, Director General of BLRI and Zakiya Sultana, CEO of Moringa Bangladesh Ltd. Have signed on the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
Regarding this MoU, Dr. Talukder Nurun Nahar says, ‘moringa is very familiar to people of Bangladesh as a nutritious vegetable. But by feeding cows fodder made from moringa tree can increase milk production by 40 to 60 percent.
She also says, ‘BLRI has been conducting research on moringa since 2006. By using results from those research, both organizations will work for the develpment of livestock sector by using moringa made cattles.’
CEO of Moringa Bangladesh Zakiya Sultana says, ‘To meet nutritional needs, moringa made foods and suppliments are being used in large scale in different countries. We have already started to work on this aspect.’
Chief Scientific Officer of Animal production research division Dr. Nasrin Sultana, Head of poultry production research division Dr. Nathu Ram Sarker, Scientific officer Mr. Muhammad Khairul Bashar were also present on the occasion.
