BBC Silent Witness fans point out same issue minutes into episode

BBC’s Silent Witness left fans confused by the dimly lit scenes in the latest gripping instalment of the forensic drama series.

Emilia Fox returned as Dr Nikki Alexander, leading her team through another nail-biting episode of the BBC favourite, which unfolded over two parts. In the first segment, the plot thickened with the team summoned to investigate a savage murder of an estate agent, bludgeoned to death with a claw hammer at one of his show homes.

The victim, who was checking on the property before meeting his grisly end, had no clue that danger lurked, ready to strike him down. However, as the forensic squad arrived at the scene to examine the horrifically blood-stained surroundings and the lifeless body, viewers were quick to notice something amiss the lights were off, reports Plymouth Live.

Squinting to make out the action, the audience watched as the characters resorted to using flashlights instead. Flocking to social media platform X en masse, fans aired their views. One quipped: “The lighting budget for this series must be under a tenner.”

Another wrote, puzzled: “Why don’t they put the lights on?” A third chimed in, repeating the sentiment: “Why don’t they put the lights on instead of using the torches?”

And yet another viewer expressed their bewilderment: “So the new build has its water connected but not it’s electric?”

Despite initial visual hiccups that left viewers squinting at their screens, the first segment of the enthralling drama captivated many, who eagerly theorised about the architect of an estate agent’s demise. Heaping accolades on the series, a fan enthused: “My goodness there was a lot going on in that one! Even with my short attention span! Slowly starting to come together towards the end though. Can’t wait for part 2 tomorrow.”

Another chimed in with praise for the star-studded lineup: “Such a good cast tonight, I swear we were shouting ‘I recognise them!’ in just about every scene.”

A third scribbled their admiration, gushing: “So much going on in that first episode, but I am loving it as always! ! ” Meanwhile, a fourth admirer proclaimed: “Brilliant episode yet again. Great to see Zoe Telford reprising her role from S18. Emilia, David, Fran, Maggie and all other cast and crew, this was superb all round.”
