The theatre troupe is distributing essential food items in Dhaka, Bogra, Jhenaidah and Gaibandha

Dhaka Gram Theatre has been distributing essential food items including rice and lentils in Dhaka, Bogra, Jhenaidah and Gaibandha, informed the troupe’s president, veteran thespian and freedom fighter Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu.

Bachchu told Dhaka Tribune Showtime: “The income sources are constricted for the less fortunate due to coronavirus. They are suffering from lack of food and other amenities. We are trying to stand by them in our minor capacities.”

The theatre troupe has nine branches all over Bangladesh- eight in the divisional headquarters and one in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The first fatality from coronavirus in Bangladesh was on March 18. The government enforced social distancing from March 26 to prevent further spread of the virus.
