Bangladesh has criticized Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent remarks on Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, calling them inappropriate and lacking in diplomatic decorum. The country emphasized its dedication to maintaining a positive and mutually advantageous partnership with India.
“We view Singh’s statements as inaccurate, unconstructive, and failing to uphold appropriate diplomatic standards,” stated foreign ministry spokesperson SM Mahbubul Alam when asked for Dhaka’s response to Singh’s comments. In a discussion with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Singh advised Yunus to be mindful of his words.
While expressing concern over Singh’s comments about Yunus, Alam reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to fostering a beneficial relationship with India founded on principles of equality, non-interference, and mutual respect. He emphasized that addressing differences in viewpoints should be done through constructive and respectful dialogue.
Singh also emphasized in the interview that India aims to avoid any strains in its relationship with Bangladesh. The conversation was published by Firstpost, a media platform within the group.
