Arsenal’s rising star, Max Dowman, made history as the youngest player in Champions League history when he entered the pitch as a substitute during Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Slavia Prague. Aged just 15 years and 308 days, Dowman surpassed the previous record held by German player Youssoufa Moukoko, who achieved the feat at 16 years and 18 days while playing for Borussia Dortmund in 2020.
Moukoko, who now plays for FC Copenhagen, was overtaken by Dowman’s remarkable performance. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Dowman’s bravery and skill, highlighting his natural talent and adaptability on the field. Dowman’s teammate, Mikel Merino, lauded the young midfielder for his exciting style of play, describing him as a captivating player with confidence and energy.
Dowman made his mark in the football world by debuting in the Premier League at the age of 15 years and 234 days during Arsenal’s victory over Leeds. While he is the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League, Dowman claimed the title of the youngest player to start a match for Arsenal in their recent League Cup triumph over Brighton.
