The main suspect involved in a robbery case that occurred in the Bosila area of Mohammadpur two months ago has been apprehended, along with his three associates, in an operation led by the army.
The incident occurred on September 6, where a young individual was robbed of his bag and mobile phone. The Bosila Army Camp disclosed that the robbery was captured on CCTV and circulated widely on social media, causing public concern over security issues.
The viral video depicted a young man being mugged by two individuals wielding machetes, who then fled the scene on foot during daylight hours. Upon identifying the suspects from the video, the army initiated a search operation, but the culprits went into hiding to evade capture as the footage gained traction online.
However, the primary suspect, Shawon, aged 19, resurfaced in old Dhaka recently, prompting a swift response from army personnel stationed at the Bosila camp. Shawon, along with his associates Mohim Ahmed, 24, Jewel, 25, and Ashib, 24, were apprehended during the operation.
Shawon confessed to being the person shown in the viral video during initial interrogations. Additionally, a machete resembling the one used in the robbery was recovered during the operation.
Subsequently, the four suspects were transferred to Mohammadpur Police Station for further legal action.
