A prospective buyer on the popular Channel 4 series A Place in the Sun was visibly miffed as their property tour ended prematurely.
During Monday’s episode (January 13), host Jasmine Harman returned to shepherd another British duo dreaming of a better life under the balmy skies. This week saw hopeful Richard at the helm, tagged by his mate Peter to assist in pinpointing an idyllic vacation residence in Spain.
With £210,000 in his pocket, Richard’s eyes were set on charming Sitges, yet despite a hopeful onset, Jasmine stumbled to woo the pair as they progressed. Midway through the fourth property, Richard’s patience snapped, promptly truncating the visit while surveying the terrace besieged by rooftops.
Faced with Richard’s abrupt “I think I’ve seen enough. This isn’t the property for me.” Viewers at home shouted their concord, with some imploring Richard and Peter to “run”.
Flocking to social media platform X, one viewer exclaimed: “Jesus Christ Run away – some sketchy stuff has happened in that living room 100%!” Echoing the disapproval, another viewer remarked: “I don’t think it’s right for many people… It was awful! ” A third chimed in criticising: “It’s horrible from the outside,” reports Plymouth Live.
While yet another succinctly urged: “Nope. Next.”
Initially, Richard’s property hunt took an underwhelming turn, but things took a promising upswing when Jasmine unveiled the fifth and final option she had in store. Despite being just a tad outside his budget, valued at £251,000, this contemporary Spanish apartment flaunted a beautiful and sleek design, making a strong impression on Richard.
It promptly climbed the ranks as a top contender. However, after a night of contemplation, Richard shared his reservations about the property with Jasmine it just didn’t get enough sunlight.
This concern weighed heavily in his decision-making process, ultimately choosing not to make an offer. While he was just being honest, fans at home couldn’t help but feel deflated.
Taking to X once again, they aired their thoughts. One fan chimed in: “I think I would love that property in the shade. I can enjoy the sun but relax in a lovely calm space.”
Bringing up the orange juice the duo reportedly received on the house during their chat with Jasmine, another said: “So they’re orange juice thieves after all. Disappointing because they seemed nice.”
