Indian court orders extradition of Nur Hossain

Nur HossainDaily Dhaka Times: An Indian court on Friday ordered extradition of Narayanganj seven-murder prime accused Nur Hossain to Bangladesh.

The chief judicial magistrates’ court of Barasat in North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal in India passed the order after withdrawing the case against Nur Hossain.

The Indian officials said Nur Hossain will be extradited in shortest possible time.

The Indian home ministry earlier had ordered extraditing Nur Hossain withdrawing all cases against him.

Nur Hossain is accused of masterminding as well as financing the abduction and killing of Narayanganj City Councillor Nazrul Islam along with six others.

On 27 April, Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city.

Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to Dhaka.

Three days after their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on 30 April.

Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on1 May.

Shahidul Islam alias Shahid chairman, father-in-law of slain Nazrul Islam, filed a case along with his widowed daughter alleging that some officials of elite force RAB killed Nazrul Islam, in exchange for Tk 6 crore from city councillor Nur Hossain.
